Pierre Jeanneret Pair of Bedside Tables, Panjab University, Chandigarh, c. 1960

Designed by Pierre Jeanneret for the student residences of Panjab University in Chandigarh, these two bedside tables retain their original institutional stencils, P.U.P.10 / B. HOSTEL 117/C and P.U.P.10 / B. HOSTEL 118/C, placing them within the Boys’ Hostel inventory. They are offered as a matched pair.

Each table is constructed in solid teak. The body comprises one open shelf above a single drawer, fitted with a circular cutout routed directly into the drawer face. Each unit stands on four outward-splayed legs. The form is among the most recognizable of the Chandigarh residential program.

The teak has developed a dense, warm patina consistent with more than sixty years of use. Both stencils remain intact. Offered as found.Lightly cleaned and unrestored.
